Too early for Tenebrae, but . . .

Many of our Lenten musical offerings understandably focus on the great sufferings Our Saviour experienced on account of our sins. If we caused such pitiless cruelty for the Son of God little wonder that it can move us to such great remorse during Lent.

However, I sense that the fasts, prayers and charity of Lent on their own are enough to move us to weep over our sins, or at least feel quite uncomfortable. These spiritual practices should be encouraged if they aren’t already.
